For Immediate Release
Software FX Updates and Renames Flagship Charting Solution and announces support for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.

Boca Raton, Florida, USA – December 11, 2007 – In response to the commercial release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, the latest version of the most popular Integrated Development Environment for Microsoft .NET Developers, Software FX announced today that it has updated and changed the name of its Chart FX for Visual Studio 2005 product to a more simplified Chart FX 7.

“Not only is the name more appropriate now that we have two versions of Visual Studio in the market, but it is more in-line with future product announcements coming from Software FX.” said Rene Garcia, president of Software FX. “As with any new version of a major development tool like Visual Studio, the adoption curve will take some time and we wanted to prevent unnecessary confusion from customers looking for a solution for Visual Studio 2008.” Mr. Garcia concluded.

Since its introduction in 2005, Chart FX for Visual Studio 2005 has been the most tightly integrated data visualization solution for developers creating enterprise applications with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. The company’s patent pending technology includes a series of design-time innovations geared to increase developer productivity when building data visualization and analysis front ends for their Windows Forms and Web Forms applications. As the release of Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2008 approaches, Software FX wanted to ensure those same advantages were available in Visual Studio 2008 for new and existing Chart FX customers.

“Our first and most important goal was to ensure a smooth transition for our existing Windows Forms and Web Forms developers using Chart FX for Visual Studio 2005,” said Ivan Giugni, product manager of Chart FX. “However, important technical changes were made to ensure our product innovations were also available to customers adopting Visual Studio 2008. Chart FX 7 not only provides the same API as Chart FX for Visual Studio 2005, which guarantees full compatibility with the code our customers have today, but it also provides the same design-time advantages that our customers have become accustomed to and that have made Chart FX the most popular charting and data visualization tool for enterprise developers.”

In addition, Software FX announced that Chart FX Gauges, Extensions Pack, plus Grid FX, the company’s latest technology used to create graphical and tabular data in enterprise web applications, will fully support Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 by Q1 2008.

“Grid FX is heavily dependent on the Visual Studio 2005 design-time and extensibility mechanisms to drive a unique experience for ASP.NET developers and the differences within Visual Studio 2008 created the need for changes in the way Grid FX integrates and makes use of integration facilities,” said Stephen Potter, Grid FX architect and lead developer. “We’re in the process of testing the product thoroughly before releasing it to developers using Visual Studio 2008.”

Both products, Chart FX 7 and Grid FX, provide Visual Studio 2008 compatibility free of charge to registered and licensed users. The products can be downloaded from the company’s support site at http://support.softwarefx.com.

The Chart FX 7 pricing starts at $1,599 for the Windows Forms only or $2,699 for the Web Forms version, including a test/development seat and a production server license. The Grid FX development license is free, while a production server license is $1,599. Test/development servers are also available and until December 31, 2007 there is a $499 price for competitive upgrades and Chart FX customers.
